Daily Activites
During the morning hours, professional faculty and staff members of
the JSU Archaeological Resource Laboratory will supervise and instruct
as you carefully excavate a Creek Indian village. You will work in a
field laboratory where you will learn to identify and catalog artifacts
recovered during the excavations.
| |
In the afternoons, camp staff and special guests will lead activities
essential to Creek daily living. You will learn pottery making, basketry
and finger weaving. You will be introduced to many of the local plants
and learn some of the secrets of nature’s pharmacy.
| |
But it is not all hard work or learning to survive. There will be time
for play as well. You’ll lean to play stickball with sticks you
made yourself and participate in a traditional Creek Stomp Dance.
| |
Evenings will be spent much as they were for generations with Creek
Indian lore being shared around the evening campfire.
