The Camp Environment

Camp is located in a remote area of central Alabama. Open tents will provide protection from the sun and rain for students excavating the archaeological site. The forested areas surrounding the site provides an excellent environment for nature studies and hikes conducted in the late afternoons.

Participants will be lodged in spacious tents, equipped with cots and mattresses. The camp will include field toilet and shower facilities. Cell phone communications will be available for parent/guardian contacts and emergencies.

 

Meals will be prepared daily by a professional chef, who will operate a specially designed field kitchen.

Camp will be arranged to mirror a Creek village site. Participants will join a clan and learn the obligations and responsibilities of clan membership.

Each week long camp is limited to 25 participants to ensure that everyone has an opportunity to participate in every activity.
